The day we ran 13.1 (Dec 13, 2009)

JT and I woke up that morning wide awake with adrenaline running through our veins. We were pumped to get on the road and pass tons of people! We were also anxious for what the race would be like. Neither of us had ever run in a large race before and didn't know what to expect.

We started off the morning at my co-workers apartment right above where the start line was. We were meeting up with a few other co-workers that were also running the 1/2 marathon that day.

Below we could see thousands of people starting to get in line and then we took that as our cue to go get in line as well. JT even spotted Tracy from this season's Biggest Loser! It was so neat to see all 20,000 people come out for the race and get pumped to see how quickly they could finish.

After many miles and quite a few songs on the ipod... we sprinted towards the finish line and even held hands as we crossed! It was such a great experience for us to train together and also run the entire race together. There were definitely moments of encouraging each other and sheer exhaustion... but it was all worth it.

Now... we're even talking about running another 1/2 in the Spring and then shooting for the goal of doing the full marathon in next year's White Rock.

Can I actually say out loud that I might really enjoy running now?... nope. I'll just type it for now :)

Today was a first...

JT and I did something today that neither one of us has ever done before in our lives... we ran 10 miles.

I know that doesn't sound very exciting, but it was definitely an accomplishment in training our way to run our first 1/2 marathon on December 13th.

I'm so proud of him and that we are doing this together. Merry Christmas, JT!

13.1

13.1.... that's JT's first Christmas present of the year. Yes, it's true. I love Christmas so much that I start to give gifts 3 months on advance :)

13.1 is how many miles it takes to run half a marathon. It's been a desire of JT's to run one with me and this year will be the year that we accomplish it together.

On December 13, 2009 you can find JT and I running in and around Downtown Dallas in the White Rock Half Marathon.

This will be me as we get started:

April Showers bring.... March posts!

Hello friends and family. It's been a while. March has come and gone and I have failed at updating our blog. Life's been busy! Family came in town 3 weeks in a row, JT had spring break from DTS, and before we knew it, every weekend was full. I should've been better about documenting every weekend, but somehow the camera only made it to a few events.

Remember our goal of being crafty on a monthly basis? Well, we decided our March craft would be painting again and Marcy was able to participate! It was so fun to go to Michael's and pick out our supplies and then find paintings online to copy :)
Here's some fun pics of our masterpieces...

Who says you can't use a knife to make cool texture in your painting?
